Note for 07 Jun 03: I went with Blair Piggot. Fantastic weather. We first did the scramble up Mt. Reynolds. After that, we decided to take advantage of the snow and ski the rest of the afternoon. On this day, we skied the east aspects of the ridge between Reynolds and Clement.
Note for 04 Jun 05: I went with Blair Piggot and Kevin Nemeth. We set out to scramble up Bearhat Mtn, but given the extremely thick fog, we couldn't find the mountain. So, we just did some yo-yo skiing on the SW face of Mt. Clement. Click for the details

Note for 04 Jun 06: I went with Blair Piggot. We were actually going after Bearhat Mtn, but with the road still closed, we had to hike up to Logan Pass with our skis on our pack. By the time we got up there, we could only go for turns. Click for the details

Going to the Sun Highway The Going to the Sun Highway was closed at the Jackson Glacier Lookout, which leaves 4 miles to hike to the pass.

Skis on our packs So, when the road is closed, we do what any other ski diehard would do... we put our skis on our pack and started hiking.

The east tunnel on Going to the Sun Highway What was really frustrating was the road was dry all the way through the tunnel and to the big drift.

The big drift on Going to the Sun Highway Speaking of the Big Drift, the snow wall was about 30ft. That's a lot of snow. You could really do a great snow pit analysis here. The nice thing is that we were able to put our skis on here.

Skiing up to Hidden Pass This is Blair approaching Hidden Pass. We knew we wouldn't be able to climb Bearhat, but while we were up there, we figured we would explore the area and maybe find a shortcut down to Hidden Lake.

Hidden Pass This is approaching Hidden Pass. In the background is Bearhat Mtn. On the left side of the picture, is the ridge between Reynolds and Clement. That ridge usually provides good skiing.

Bearhat Mtn. This is a closer picture of Bearhat Mtn. You can also see that the weather is starting to come in from the west.

Looking West from Hidden Pass This is looking west from Hidden Pass. Here we see Blair looking for a shortcut down to Hidden Lake. We actually got cliffed out every where we looked.

Traversing toward Reynolds After giving up on finding a shortcut down to Hidden Lake, we decided to go bag some turns off the ridge between Reynolds and Clement, but this time, we decided to traverse around the backside of it.

Hidden Lake This is Hidden Lake and the lower slopes of Bearhat.

Going to the Sun Highway After some turns, we skied back down to the Big Drift and started hiking back to the truck. On our way, we came across nine male sheep.
