The term Hawkins Rowe is something I made up on the spot. After our trip, we stopped by the Warden's Office where
Lisa said she wished every run had a name so she'd know where people are talking. So, I quickly named it Hawkins
Rowe since the run goes from Hawkins Ridge to Rowe Lake. In this picture, (taken from around lower Rowe Lake) is
of our run. The scree ridge on the right leads to Mt. Lineham. The highpoint where the scree and snow come together
is one of the four highpoints on Hawkins Ridge. Specifically, it's GR133390. From there, we had a fantastic run back
down to Rowe Lake. The run is a lot steeper than it appears in this picture. I actually put my skis on my pack
and kicked steps up the face to the ridge.

This is the back of Blair looking toward the ridge connecting Hawkins Ridge to Rowe Mtn. That slope appeared to have
some good skiing on it as well, but it was threatened by some cornices.
|
This is part of the slope we skied down. We tried to stay out from below this cornice, but the better snow was
over there. I guess it was conforting that we were only under the cornice for a couple of minutes.

This is the connecting ridge up Mt. Lineham. In hindsight, we should have tagged that summit. We considered tagging
Hawkins, but I've already got it, and Blair didn't feel like walking over there. We're getting lazy in our old age.

Here is Blair standing our top of our little highpoint on Hawkins Ridge. That's Mt. Blakiston in the background.
While the temperatures were around 17 for the day, once we got out of our bowl, we were attacked by the wind. Then
it got cold. But 5 minutes later, we're skiing down the face in awesome sunny weather.
