Vulture Peak is the unnamed peak hanging above the path to the Bow Hut. It's at the end of the valley before
you turn right to head up to the Bow Hut. In this picture, it's in the background. To get there, we went
up to the Bow Hut, then up the headwall on to the glacier, then around St. Nicholas to the Olive/St. Nick col.
From there, we skied down 300 ft, then back up 500 ft. The trip was 32km in length with over 4,000 ft of
height gain. It made for a long day. |
Here is Vulture Peak from past the Olive/St. Nick col. After we crossed the col, a thick fog rolled in and hindered
my picture taking. |
Getting a little closer to the summit. |
Stopping for a breather, I looked back to find a couple of cornices. In the left background, you can see
the shadow of Mt. Thompson. |
As we pressed on, the summit got closer. There is a weather station (seen in front of Tom) at the summit.
|
Seven hours after we left the parking lot, we arrived at the summit. One more peak off my check list.
