Note for 01 Mar 02: I did this with Tom McMahon after heading into the Bow Hut. Sunny and warm conditions, but hard wind slabs on the snow. We were able to ski within 10 feet of the summit.

01 Mar 02 - The Onion is the unofficial name for the mound above the Bow Hut on the right (north). It's not a major objective by any means, but if you're looking for something to do after getting to the Bow Hut, and you don't have time to bag a real peak, this small mound might work. Personally, I think going over to the Onion messes up a good ski descent. The slopes above the Bow Hut are steeper and offer better skiing on the St. Nick side. The closer to the Onion you ski, the less steep.

01 Mar 02 - Here we see Tom making his way to the summit of the Onion. This is after you get to the base of the summit slopes. Once at the point where the Onion meets the Wapta, you turn around and head back east (seen here).

01 Mar 02 - After a little bit of effort, we reached the summit. Such an awesome day. I can't beleive we wasted it on the Onion. Behind Tom (left to right) is Mt. Olive, St. Nick, and Mt. Gordon.

01 Mar 02 - Looking east from the summit, you can see Crowfoot Mtn. That's a long day.

01 Mar 02 - Looking west, you can see (left to right), Mt. Rhondda South, Mt. Rhondda North, Mt. Baker, and Mt. Trapper. The peak between Baker and Trapper is usually called Tracker Peak, but it's an official name.

01 Mar 02 - After a long break on the summit, it was time to head back down.
