Note for 05 Mar 00: Very overcast skis. That's why I don't have any pictures. Temperatures were around -5°C (23°F). Winds were calm and there were scattered avalanches. The slopes became skied out rather early. Derek and I were able to make our first run, but when we got back to the bottom, we were met by four ACC Rocky Mountain Members. After four trips for everybody, the slopes were pretty much skied out.

The Crowfoot Glades is more of a place to just go out and get some skiing in. It doesn't summit anything, but you can yo-yo the slopes all day. Due to the weather, I couldn't take any good pictures, so I borrowed a picture from the summer, which would at least give you a general idea of what I was talking about. The red marks show the many avalanches that occured that day.

We parked at the Crowfoot Glacier Parking Lot, put on our skis, and went off the bank, through the trees and on to Bow Lake. On the southeast end of the lake, you can go through a small break in the trees. Cross through that break in the trees and then across more of the lake. Eventually, you can go up a drainage, just left of the hanging glacier. When you get out of the trees, angle up the slopes on your left. We went up and down these slopes four times before we were just wiped.

More pictures will follow.
