Note for 02 Oct 04: This was the third peak in a three peak day. I went with Vern Dewit, and it was a great day, but pretty tiring. Awesome weather all day long. We started with The Fortress and Gusty Peak, then drove over to shark and finished the day with our third summit. Click for the detailed trip report.

For Vern's perspective on the same trip, check out his page: http://www.fresh-oxygen.com/vern/scrambles/shark/shark.php

This is Mt. Shark as seen from the trailhead. The picture was actually taken after the scramble because the sun was in the way when we started. Still isn't a good picture.

The trip starts with a quick bike ride to Watridge Lake, followed by a hike to Karst Springs. The springs create a really cool waterfall over green mossy rocks (seen here).

After some horrible bushwhacking, we found ourselves at the base of the rock ridge, which would eventually lead to the summit. This is looking back over Watridge Lake with the southern Spray Lakes area in the background.

This is Vern starting up the rock ridge. At this point the bushwhacking ended and the scrambling began.

This is one of the slabby sections of the trip. The route follows the obvious ledge in the middle of the slab.

This is a typical view along the way. You crest one "mound" that you hope is the summit, only to find more ridge to follow. But it's all good scrambling.

Here is Vern on top of one of the false summits.

... with more ridge to follow.

A closer view of Vern. He's a pretty nice guy.

This is Vern coming up one of the chimneys, actually on the way back down the ridge.
