01 Aug 98 - It was so cloudy this day, that I really don't have any good pictures to show you. This is a shame because a picture sure would make this easy to explain. So, in this case, I'll try to draw the mountain in. Anyway, if you're climbing this mountain, chances are you also climbed Cegnfs Peak. Regardless, you need to gain the col between Mt. Murray and Cegnfs Peak. If you are not climbing Cegnfs Peak first, please read my description of how to get to Cegnfs Peak first. You would need to ascend the same gully and then over to Mt. Murray.

From Cegnfs Peak, the col is on the south side. As you're crossing the col, stay as close to the ridge as possible. Then start climbing up scree slopes through the rockbands. The rockbands aren't that bad once you get to them, but the scree is terrible. As you're climbing up the scree, you'll get to a rockface. Circle around this face counter-clockwise (towards your right). This will eventually lead you to an area where you can scramble up a rockband and make your way to the summit.

07 Sep 02 - Here we see Mt. Murray and Cegnfs from the summit of Commonwealth Peak.

01 Aug 98 - On the way down, go back to the col between Mt. Murray and Cegnfs Peak. On the "Cegnfs side" of the gully, you can get around the cliffbands and down into the gully. From there, you can follow a small creek which eventually gets you back to French Creek. Follow French Creek downstream towards the parking lot.
