05 Aug 02 - The beginning of Mt. Weed wasn't exactly pleasant, but I've definitely had worse. You have to bushwhack for about 20 minutes before you find the major stream. Once there, you follow the stream until you get to where this picture was taken. At this point, the stream will split. Take the right fork. The creek bed has one waterfall in it which you'll have to go around on the right, but other than that, there are no obsticles between you and the summit.

05 Aug 02 - Right at treeline, you come across these big rocks, and this is a good place to take your first break. Resting in the picture, you can see Taco (in yellow) and myself (in black). In the background, you can see Peyto Lake. This is one of Paul's pictures.

05 Aug 02 - Just above the treeline, we encountered fresh snow. You want to head up the gully shown in red. At first, it's pretty flat, but it gets steeper.

05 Aug 02 - Here we see Taco and myself making our way up to the gully. It starts getting a little steeper here, but still nothing troublesome.

05 Aug 02 - This is looking back down the gully. Here we see Paul making his way to the summit.

05 Aug 02 - As we popped out of the gully, we were on the summit. Here we see (L to R) Paul, Taco, and myself standing next to the summit cairn. This is another one of Paul's photos. Click to enlarge.

05 Aug 02 - The view from the summit is suppose to be really good, but with the low cloud ceiling, we were doing good to look across the highway. Here we see Mt. Patterson and the Snowbird Glacier.

05 Aug 02 - Here we are looking northwest from the summit. The lakes are the two waterfoul lakes. Just to the left of the lakes is Mt. Cephren.
