Mt. Tyrwhitt is a nice scramble in the highwood pass area of Kananaskis. You start in the Highwood
Meadows Parking Lot. Behind the parking lot on the west is a small ridge, which you must traverse
around. This brings you into a meadow valley with Pocaterra Ridge in the background. As you come
to the back of the valley and circle around to the left, you'll see Mt. Tyrwhitt on your left. Cut
up and across the bowl to reach Grizzly Col, as shown in red. From the col, Tyrwhitt is to the right.
This picture was taken from Mt. Pocaterra.

Here is a closer picture of Tyrwhitt as seen from the bottom of the valley. If you look closely, in
the center of Tyrwhitt's ridge, you will see the window that is shown in Kane's book.

Here we see the ascent ridge as seen from just below the col. The closer you stay to the right,
the less scree you have to deal with, but the more exposure you have. Pick a route within your
comfort level. This picture was taken by John Ionescu.

As you work your way up the ridge, you will easily come to the summit. It offers great views of Mist Mtn,
Mt. Joffre, Mt. Arethusa, Mt. Rae, Mt. Fox, Mt. Sarrail, and the Kananaskis Lakes. I think you could
actually traverse the ridge south to Mt. Storelk, but it would be a long way. This picture was taken by
John Ionescu.
