Note for 14 Oct 00: Descent conditions. 0°C (32°F), cloudy, with a gusty wind out of the north. There were patches of snow along the north ridge, but the south east ridge from Lipsett was dry. We saw a bear 300 yards behind us, while we were heading up to the Lipsett col.

Here we see Mist Mtn from the Highwood Meadows parking lot. It's the mountain under the sunlight. We went up to the Lipsett Col and then east (left) up the skyline ridge. John and I stuck to the ridge itself, while Rob and Doreen stayed slightly off the ridge and went up the scree. Rob and Doreen's way was probably safer, but those rocks were a lot of fun to climb on.

This is looking back (north) from the Mist/Lipsett col. Mt. Lipsett is on the left. You want to park a little further south than where Kane suggests. From where Kane suggests, you will have to walk down the road a bit to a creek, then up the creek and around the base of Mt. Lipsett. From there, you will see the col. Just make your way to the col.

While we took a quick food and water break at the col, John ran up Lipsett and took a picture of us. Mist Mtn and the north ridge (which we took for descent) is in the background.

Here we see myself going up and around the rocky ridge. Behind me by a couple of rocks is Rob and Doreen. Rob has the blue pants. Doreen is about two steps in front of him (hard to see).

This is me on top of one of the rocks. Pretty cool, eh?

Eventually, we all made it to the summit. Thanks to a self-timer, here are all four of us. Horah!!!

For descent, we took the north ridge until we were even with the creek heading to the road. Then we went down one of the gullies. It looked harder than it really was.

At times, the ridge was very narrow and icy, so three of us came down onto the scree. John stayed on the ridge. Once we decided to come down off the ridge and down the ridge gully, it wasn't too bad. We got some good scree skiing in, and then down a grassy hill to the creek.
