Note for 09 Jul 05: I went with Sonny Bou, Vern Dewitt, Linda Breton, Dinah Kruze, and Bob Spirko as part of a fun Stanley Mitchell Hut weekend. Lots of lingering snow and rain, but at least we got the summit. Click for a detailed report.

After a questionable start due to rain, the sunshine came out in the middle of the morning, so we decided to go for it. Here we see Mt. Kerr in the center of the picture with a higher, unnamed point to the left (kind of behind the tree). The route up Mt. Kerr basically follows the right skyline ridge.

This is the gang heading out from the hut, about to cross the bridge. In the lead is Bob, followed by Dinah and Linda.

Our approach trail to Kiwetinok Lake is a well established trail and passes below the Presidents (seen here).

The trail basically ascends moraines on its way to Kiwetinok Lake. Here we see Bob coming up behind us.

Almost at the lake, the route up Kerr starts to reveal itself.

For this time of year, there was still a lot of snow on the slopes. At times, it made for tricky moves across the bolders, but on some of the bigger scree slopes, it was easier to kick steps up the snow. Seen in the bottom of this picture are Bob (left), Dinah and Linda (center). On the right side of the picture is Kiwetinok Lake, still frozen.

Here is Sonny standing on top of the first (false) summit.

From the first summit, we followed the ridge, which involved a small, but faithful, jump. Here we see Dinah about to take the leap of faith, with Vern (R) and Bob (L) behind her.

After the jump, it's a quick scramble to the summit. Here we see Vern standing next to the summit cairn.

Shortly behind Vern is Sonny quickly approaching the summit.

After a short and easy day of scrambling, we all file in line to head back to the hut.
