This is the start of the trail, just minutes after leaving the parking lot, on our way to Laughing Falls.

And here we see Laughing Falls. I can't say that it actually made me laugh or that the sound of the running water was similar to laughter. Since the name is so irrelevant, you could say that it's a funny name.

Here comes Sonny on his way up toward the hut. Sonny had an extremely heavy pack, filled with bottles of pop and things like real fruit.

After a couple of hours, we arrived at the hut. We took about an hour to set up camp, drop off our overnight gear, and get ready for the scramble up Isolated Peak.

This was taken from Barometer Peak on the next day. It shows the overall route. There is a well-worn trail from the back of the hut on the right side (where the outhouse USE to be). This trail quickly gains elevation to reach a hanging valley. From there, you follow the creek up and around the rock band. Then, circle the base of the peak to the west face.

This is Vern setting a fast pace up and through the hanging valley.

Through the hanging valley, the trail is a well-worn path, which basically follows the water.

This is Vern standing at the base of the west face of Isolated Peak.

There are three prominant gullies on the west face. The right most gully is by far the steepest. The middle gully is blocked by a vertical rock band, and the left gully is pretty easy. We took the right gully up and the left gully down.

After going up the right gully, followed by some moderate scrambling through a bunch of rock steps, we finally reached the summit ridge. Here we see Vern just a few steps from the summit cairn.

Here is one last look at our ascent gully, preferring snow to scree, we choose the right gully. But I have to admit, it was pretty darn steep.
