Note for 14 Jun 03: This was a family hike with my family and Paul Russell's family. For the most part, it was very warm, sunny, with a light breeze. As we arrived to the base of the switchbacks, the wind really picked up, and Samantha started crying. We had to turn around.

Moose Mtn is a great family objective. The trail is nice and wide and nothing too steep. In fact, you could ride your bike to the summit. Here we see the summit way off in the distance. It sure looks like a long way, but the trail is mostly flat, so you will arrive at the first major uphill soon enough. Personally, I think it would make for a nice ski objective.

Here we see Maja, Paul (carry Lincoln) and my wife, Tina. As you can tell, it's a really nice trail to the summit. If they didn't lock the gate, you could probably drive to the summit.

More of the trail. Beautiful scenery and perfect weather.

Getting closer to the objective. You can start to make out switchbacks going up the first part. Some people just go straight up through the switchbacks, and most people come straight down.

Just at the base of the first steep part, there is a small clump of trees. It was getting pretty windy here, so we took a break hoping the wind would calm down.

This is looking back down the trail toward's Calgary. We could actually see Calgary from here, but it doesn't really show up in the picture. If it wasn't for the wind, it would be a terrific day. Samantha doesn't like the wind.

Nestled in the trees, we were protected from the wind. This gave Samantha and Lincoln time to interact. Lincoln is 12 months old and Samantha is 10½ months. They seem to get along without any problems.

In this picture, I'm not sure if Lincoln is showing Samantha what he has, as in, "ha, ha. look what I've got", or if it's more of an offer, as in, "hey baby, would you like a piece of my energy bar".

Unfortunately, the wind never died down, so we couldn't make the summit with the babies. It was also time for Samantha's nap, so she fell asleep on the way down.
