15 Jul 00 - Mt. Ward is one of a trio of peaks in the Crowsnest area. I only did two of them. Basically, you drive up Allison Creek Rd and make the left turn as described in the book. From Allison Creek Road, before you make the left turn, you can look south and see the trio of peaks.

15 Jul 00 - When you make the left turn off Allison Creek Rd, you will go through a logged area. This picture is of that logged area. You want to go as far up this road as you can. It ends at the ridge on the left side of the picture. From the car, go up a trail that starts heading to the right but quickly does a switchback, and goes toward Window Mountain Lake.

15 Jul 00 - When you get to the lake, circle it counter-clockwise. If you arrive at the lake at 6:00, make your way around to 11:00. Then, head up the initial scree slope of Mt. Ward.

15 Jul 00 - Here we see the first part of Mt. Ward. Head up as steep as you'd like to gain the left side of the ridge. You can go further right, and it's not as steep, but it will make your ridge walk a little longer. I took a more direct route straight for the summit.

15 Jul 00 - Once you gain the ridge, the summit cairn is in sight, off to the left. On the right side of the picture, you can see Seven Sisters over near Crowsnest Mtn.

15 Jul 00 - After you do Ward, the next object is to head south along the ridge to Allison Peak.

15 Jul 00 - After Allison Peak, you can either head back to the low spot between Allison and Ward. Then head straight across the bowl to the east and head up the gully to the Window, or for some good scrambling, just follow the connecting ridge from Allison to Window Mtn's summit, then drop into the window (shown by the lines). In this picture, you can see Seven Sisters, Crowsnest Mtn, and the Window.
