21 Sep 97 - Mt. Baldy is a great choice if you are really pressed
for time. It's very close to Calgary, and it's not a big mountain. Besides, I thought it
was a very easy climb, and not very strenuous. To get to the mountain, go south on Route
40, Kananaskis Trail. The hard part is deciding where the trail starts. The mountain
is directly across the street from Barrier Lake. You will see a place where there are
lots of cars parked. Don't park there. Those are the rock climbers. You want to head
south about 100 yards. There you will find a small ridge to climb up, and you will
then see the trail. Here we see a picture of Mt. Baldy, as seen from the top of Mt. Kidd.
The climb involves going along the left side of the mountain and along the ridge. This
is a really bad picture because of a storm that rolled in while I was on top of Mt. Kidd.

21 Sep 97 - Most of the climb involves walking along a ridge. Here
is a picture of the ridge. In the back ground, you can see Barrier Lake.

|
21 Sep 97 - Here is more of the ridge on your way to the top. As you
can see you will come across a large pinnacle, which you can go right over, or you can
go around it. Out of laziness, I usually go around it.

21 Sep 97 - And here is more of the ridge. (it's a long ridge)

21 Sep 97 - From the top of Mt. Baldy, you can see Mt. Bogart
sitting behind the Nakiska Ski area.

|
21 Sep 97 - Also from the top of Mt. Baldy, you have a great view
of Yamnuska.
