24 Oct 98 - Stuart's Knob is often done in combination with other peaks (either Castle Mtn or Helena Ridge). Since I had climbed Castle earlier in the year, I was climbing Helena's Ridge this time. From Helena's Ridge, you can see Stuart's Knob as merely a ridge walk as seen here. You can descend Helena's Ridge on the "Stuart's Knob" side of it, so make your way down to the ridge, then simply walk over to Stuart's Knob. Once you get there, you will want to circle around it clockwise. On the southwest side of the "knob" you will see how to get up through the rockband. When I climbed this peak, I went up through the middle of the southeast section of the rockband. This can be done, but my climbing partner for the day (Chris) went up the right way and was at the summit waiting for me. Go the right way. It's faster.

Also of note, you can extend your journey to include Television Peak (off to the right). From Stuart's knob, walk along the ridge (actually passing TV Peak), then approach it from the north side. What a long walk!!! In the background, you can also see Mt. Temple.

24 Oct 98 - Here is a better picture of how to get over to Television Peak. Kane says it takes a couple of hours to go from Stuart's Knob to TV Peak. For me, I ran out of day light (and energy).
