24 Oct 98 - Helena is a nice mountain to take a date to. The walk to Rockbound Lake is rather long (8 km), but it's a very nice setting for a romantic afternoon getaway. Unfortunately, I've yet to take a date there. So, to climb this peak, park at the rockbound lake trailhead (as described for Castle Mountain, and begin your long uphill walk to Rockbound Lake. It should take you about 2 hours to get there. As you can see from this picture, Rockbound Lake can be very impressive with its reflective view.

24 Oct 98 - From Rockbound Lake, Helena Ridge is off to your right. The trip up this peak is technically easier than it looks, but it's also requires a lot more energy than what first appears. Walk around the lake (counter-clockwise) to get to a small scree gully. Walk up the gully to gain the first ridge, then traverse left. From here, you will see the trail, which will bring you to the base of Helena Ridge. From there, simply walk to the col on the right side of the summit, then up the ridge. On the way to the col, you will find the scree to be rather tedious.
