19 Jul 97 - Cascade Mountain is one of the mountains surrounding Banff Township, and it is often seen in pictures of Banff's Main Street. I however prefer the picture of Cascade as seen from the TransCanada Highway. This is the front of Cascade. I had heard that this hike was rather technical, but I found it to be very easy, just long and tiring. To climb this mountain, drive to Norquay ski area, and hike to the Cascade natural amphitheatre. Gain the ridge on your right as quickly as possible, then just keep climbing until you get to the top.

19 Jul 97 - While walking to the amphitheatre, you are very likely to come across several ground squirrels.

19 Jul 97 - Here is the natural amphitheatre. You can climb onto the ridge on the lower back end of it.

19 Jul 97 - Here we see more of the ridge. In the background, you can see Norquay Ski area.

19 Jul 97 - Here's the summit.

19 Jul 97 - The top of Cascade is the best view I've experienced. From the summit, looking east, you see the bow corridor. Down the middle, you can see the TransCanada Highway. On the right, you can see part of Mt. Rundle.

19 Jul 97 - Looking towards the north from the summit, you can see Lake Minnewanka. The mountain just to the right Lake Minnewanka is Mt. Inglismaldie.

19 Jul 97 - Looking towards the south, you can see Mt. Assiniboine. That's is one of my long term goals.

19 Jul 97 - This is Mt. Rundle as seen from the top of Cascade.
