Note for 19 Oct 03: I went with Blair Piggot. This was a first ascent, as far as we can tell, on the Expert's Choice Wall. Overcast, windy and cool. We climbed the first pitch, which is new to the point where it reaches Local Decision. It then started to rain, so we headed out.

19 Oct 03 - The dotted line shows the route. The climb is to the right of the Expert's Choice ice climb, which is behind the tree on the left. At the top of the climb, yuo traverse across a ledge which brings you to the top of a different climb called "Local Decision". There are bolts here. We were going to go a couple of pitches higher, but because of the weather, we bailed after the first pitch.

19 Oct 03 - Here is a closer look at the route. That left traverse in the middle of the route is a hell of a stretch.

19 Oct 03 - Here we see Blair sorting through his gear, getting ready for the climb. It took Blair forever to decide which new route to climb. That's why it's called "Long Decision". It could have also been called, "Come on. Let's Get On With It."

19 Oct 03 - This is Blair starting out. The bottom part, where the route runs up toward the right, is pretty easy.

19 Oct 03 - Now we see Blair cutting back to the left. It's a big stretch. In fact, when I tried it, I couldn't reach his left foothold. I had to clean the pro on the left, downclimb about six feet, then go up the crack of rotten rock about ten feet left of Blair.

19 Oct 03 - This is me at the crux area.

19 Oct 03 - Almost there. Once I can get my feet onto that ledge at waist level, I can just walk over to the belay station. It was starting to drizzle at this point, and that's why we bailed.
