Waterton - Mt. Crandell
Note for 22 Jun 03: I went with Blair Piggot. This was a first ascent, as far as we can tell. Sunny, but windy and cool. After climbing the crack, we continued the ascent to where it intersects Bear's Hump Ridge. From there, we scrambled back down Bear's Hump.

22 Jun 03 - This is our line on Mt. Crandell. The Bear's Hump is left of the picture. The solid red line shows the technical climbing. Where the line turns to a dotted line, is where we switched into our scrambling boots and did some 'difficult scrambling' to get over to Bear's Hump Ridge, then we just scrambled down that ridge.

22 Jun 03 - This picture is a better shot at the technical climbing. It was about four pitches rated at 5.7. The first pitch is the crux pitch. Once you actually get into that crack, it's all 5.4 - 5.5 climbing.

22 Jun 03 - Here is a close up of the crux pitch. If you look at the very right edge of the photo, you will see a flake. That's where we went up. From there, we went up over the block and along the crack.

22 Jun 03 - Here we see Blair leading along the crack. It takes a lot of #1-#4 cams. Never was it anything too difficult.

22 Jun 03 - This is one of Blair's pictures. It kind of gives you an idea of the angle of the climb. The picture is of me coming up behind Blair.
