25 May 03 - Cusak's Crack is one of the better routes on the Bear's Hump on Mt. Crandell. It seems the routes on Bear's Hump have a different name for each pitch. Bear's Hump is made up primarily of two rock bands.
Here we see the lower rock band. Click here for an 800x600 version.

25 May 03 - Here is Blair leading up the first pitch. It's a 60m 5.5 pitch called "Lower Main". We follow the small crack above Blair, then over a small bulge, then up some easy slab to a clump of trees. Click here for an 800x600 version.

25 May 03 - After the trees, all that's left is the upper part. The second pitch is a 40m 5.4 route with a little bit of a traverse. This pitch is called "Cusak's Start". Here we see Blair in the middle of this pitch. Click here for an 800x600 version.

25 May 03 - Now for the crux pitch. This pitch is 60m of 5.8 going up the crack. The hardest part of this
pitch is about six feet above Blair. That would be where I fell, but after hanging on the rope, I got it figured out.Click here for an 800x600 version.

25 May 03 - After Cusak's Crack, we angled right to the final pitch called "Lichen Line Finish". It's a 60m 5.5 pitch, but after about 30 meters of it, the rest is just 5.1 scrambling to the lookout. Here we see me and Blair sitting at the lookout with Lower Waterton Lake behind us.Click here for an 800x600 version.
