You see these creatures all over the place. Usually in high tourist areas such as the Lake Agnes Tea House or the top of Sulphur Mtn. They are very social creatures and are use to receiving handouts from people. When Samantha was 2, we took her to the Plain of Six Glaciers. A mantled ground squirrel found her and wanted some of her granola bar. Sam was quite curious about the creature until it jumped on her lap. ![]() ![]() This is one we found on top of Sulphur Mountain, back when Delaney was 3. Just to prove how use they are to people, I asked Delaney to place his hand on the ground (no food), and sure enough, the squirrel came to him. Feeding any wildlife (including the mantled squirrels) is a $500 fine. Don't do it. ![]() ![]() |
