Half of these pictures are John's.

15 Dec 01 - Guinness Gully is on Mt Dennis in Field. In this picture, it's between the two
red lines. Basically, the climb is three pitches with some snow walking between each pitch.
|
15 Dec 01 - Here we see Tom hiking up to the base of the first pitch.
|
15 Dec 01 - John just solo'd the first pitch. In this picture, John is gone and out of the way.
Here we see Rob leading the first pitch. He was going to bring up Tom and I.
|
15 Dec 01 - Since John was waiting for us, he decided to move in for some photos. Here we see
Rob leading the first pitch. It was really thin, but lots of hooking.
|
15 Dec 01 - The second pitch seen here is a little short step. John solo'd this one too, and here
we see Rob leading again. This pitch is really not worth protecting. Due to rope stretch, you'll
probably hit the ground anyway. The pitch is only about 8-10 meters.
|
15 Dec 01 - This is the last pitch. It's the longest and the crux of the climb. There were bolts
off to the right at the top, but the bolts were coming loose when we went to rap on them. What is
really impressive is that John solo'd this entire climb.
|
15 Dec 01 - Here we see John soloing again. We made him trail a rope just in case something happens, plus he would
need it for rapell. John actually rapped about half way down, stopped, and took the next two pictures
|
15 Dec 01 - Rob led the third pitch, and then Tom and I seconded at the same time. It saves a bit
of time doing this.
|
15 Dec 01 - Here is another picture of Tom and I on the top pitch.
