Note for 03 Feb 01: I went with Ross McEwen, John Ionescu, and Tom McMahon. Temperatures were around 0°C (32°F). The ice was in great condition. It was a little thin in places, but very soft and plastic. We solo'd up to the first belay station, then went on to the top.

Note for 23 Dec 01: I went with Rob Davidson and Rob Morrison. Temperatures were around -18°C at the beginning, but warmed up to 0°C. Brittle ice at the bottom and wet slush at the top. No snow in the upper bowl. We solo'd up to the first belay station, then went on to the top.

03 Feb 01 - It was a beautiful day, although very windy toward the top.

03 Feb 01 - As you can see, the top bowl was not full of snow. This was a great time to climb Cascade.

03 Feb 01 - Once arriving at the base of the falls, we decided that the slope was very tame, so we didn't bother roping up until we reached the belay stations. Here we see Tom going up the rolling ice.

03 Feb 01 - This part just went on and on. Here we see Ross and myself going up. I'm in the back.

03 Feb 01 - After a few small slopes, you just walk to the belay stations (shown in yellow). Ross and I headed for the ones on the right, while John and Tom went to the left. Not shown here is one more pitch. After reaching the top of what is shown here, you are in a small bowl, with another pitch to go. It's actually the best and steepest pitch, although the far left side of it is quite gentle.

03 Feb 01 - After a short bit of solo climbing, we have made it to our belay stations. The yellow arrow points to Ross and myself. The first pitch is right above us.

03 Feb 01 - Here is another picture of the first pitch. The rope is actually from the party in front of us.

03 Feb 01 - Now, we are at the second belay station. The pitch will take us to the top of what can be seen from the road. This is also where the wind is starting to pick up.

03 Feb 01 - This is Ross leading the second pitch. As you can see, it's not a very steep waterfall.

03 Feb 01 - This is Ross at the top of the second pitch. He is now ready to belay me up.

03 Feb 01 - Shortly after Ross puts me on belay, I top out with a big grin on my face. This is the third technical pitch. I actually didn't think John would take that picture.

03 Feb 01 - Here I am at the top. It was extremely windy. As you can see, there wasn't any snow in the upper bowl.

03 Feb 01 - Here is Tom and John standing at the top. The ropes are put away, and we are preparing for the walk-off towards Rogan's Gully.
