Note for 16 Aug 01: From our camp at Icefall Brook, this was an easy objective. Large 'schrund, but otherwise easy glacier travel, cravasse weaving, ridge scramble.

Roy and I got up super early to do Mons so that we could cross the glacier before the daytime warming occured. We did most of the ascent in the dark. This picture was taken on return. We crossed the right skyline ridge, then crossed another cravasse field, then joined another ridge, which led to the summit. The 'schrund was pretty big and the snow bridge across was rather thin. Had we done the climb in mid-day, it probably would not have held.

Here is the sun coming up. There were lots of forest fires burning in BC, which made for our only "cloudy" weather. But as the sun came up, it sure made for a good picture.

Three hours after we started, we made it to the summit. Not bad.

Here we see Roy going through the summit register. It was quite interesting. The register dated back to the 70s. Unfortunately, the container wasn't water-tight, and the register had got wet. Roy and I took it back to camp to dry out, and because the register was full, we gave it to the Alpine Club to be filed away.

Here is another picture of Roy with Mt. Forbes behind him.
